Root vegetables cook perfectly in the AGA simmering oven, preserving flavour and goodness. This simple method can be used for any root vegetables like carrots, swedes or parsnips, just ensure you cut them into even-sized pieces.

Serves 4
600g carrots (or other root vegetable), cut into even pieces
1 tsp salt
300ml water
Preparation Time: 5 minutes. Cooking Time: 25 minutes.
1. Place the prepared vegetables, salt and water in a medium sized AGA saucepan with a lid and bring to the boil on the boiling plate, hotplate on boiling setting or induction hob.
2. Once boiling allow to simmer for 5 minutes.
3. Drain off the cooking water.
4. Cover with the lid and place on the floor grid on the floor of the simmering oven. Cook for 15 minutes or until soft.
