A delicious alternative to mulled wine created by AGA Specialist Dawn Roads. Perfect for Bonfire Night or your Yuletide festivities. The cider can also be finished in the simmering oven or oven on B1 for 15 minutes.
Serves: 4
- 1 litre dry cider
- 85g brown sugar
- 3 allspice berries
- 3 whole cloves
- 3 star anise
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1 orange, sliced
- 4 cinnamon sticks (optional)
Preparation Time: 4 minutes. Cooking Time: 20 minutes.
1. Place the cider, sugar, all spice berries, cloves, star anise and cinnamon stick in a stockpot or large saucepan and bring to the boil on the boiling plate, hotplate on boiling setting or induction on high. Stir to dissolve the sugar.
2. Transfer to the simmering plate or reduce the heat setting and allow to heat through gently for 15 minutes, then strain and discard the spices, except the star anise.
3. Strain the mulled cider into a large heatproof jug and pour into glasses. Serve hot with slices of orange, the reserved star anise and a cinnamon stick if you like.
