It used to be a given that the AGA cooker was on all the time. Not so now with the introduction of a series of new AGA models that have been built with the 21st century lifestyle in mind – the AGA Total Control, AGA Dual Control and AGA City60. It’s the controllable features on these three innovative models that allow the owner to have much more control over their AGA cooker’s energy consumption.

Below you can find information on the running costs of our most popular models, including the traditional AGA that is available for use at all times.

To note:

  • Once an AGA cooker is up to temperature, it uses little energy to maintain the temperature
  • During the summer, energy consumption may be less if you are not using the ovens i.e. cooking quick omelettes on the hotplate
  • A large proportion of the energy is used via the hotplates, so by being able to turn them off, there is a significant saving to be made

Each of our AGA cookers have been tested by a third party to demonstrate the weekly running costs based on an average weekly menu (shown below). The average weekly menu utilises the most efficient method of cooking. For example, turning the ovens and hotplates off when they are not required (AGA Total Control, City60 and Dual Control), or using the AIMS programme. The cost per kW is dependent on your energy provider. Please note: all figures are typical and can vary depending on cooking methods, ambient temperatures and the use of the product.

A 2-oven electric 60cm wide AGA. This model has one hotplate and 2-ovens that can be turned on and off independently.

To cook a standard weekly menu: 32kW

To heat up all cooking zones (1 hour): 4kW

To maintain oven and hotplate temperature (per 1 hour): 1kW

3-oven AGA Total Control
A 3-oven electric AGA Total Control with independently controllable hotplates and ovens. Each oven and hotplate can be turned on and off as the owner requires. There is also a ‘slumber mode’ for the ovens to save energy.

To cook a standard weekly menu: 34.5kW

To heat up all cooking zones (1 hour): 6kW

To maintain oven temperatures (per 1 hour): 0.65kW

To maintain oven and hotplate temperature (per 1 hour): 1.3kW

3-oven AGA Dual Control – Electric
The electric AGA Dual Control’s ovens are on all the time. The hotplates can be turned on and off independently. The ovens can also be turned down to a ‘low energy’ setting.

To cook a standard weekly menu: 128.5kW

To heat up all cooking zones (1 hour): N/A

To maintain oven temperatures (per 1 hour): 0.85kW

To maintain oven and hotplate temperature (per 1 hour): 1.3kW

To maintain low-energy setting for the electric AGA Dual Control’s ovens (per 1 hour): 0.63kW

3-oven AGA Dual Control – Gas
The Gas AGA Dual Control has gas ovens that are on all the time. The electric hotplates can be turned on and off independently.

To cook a standard weekly menu:
215kW for gas ovens
14kW for the electric hotplates

To maintain oven temperatures (per 1 hour): Gas – 1.27kW

To maintain oven and hotplate temperature (per 1 hour):

13-amp (AIMS) 3-oven
The 13-amp AGA with the AGA Intelligent Management System (AIMS) fitted allows the owner to program the AGA cooker to come on when you need it, leave it sleeping when you don't and even give it a break when you're on holiday.
