These Savoury Palmiers are super-easy to make and wonderful to serve as a starter.
225g (8 oz) good quality sausagemeat
1 tbsp tomato purée
1 clove of garlic, crushed
1 piece of ready rolled puff pastry
1. Place the sausage meat into a basin, mix in the tomato purée and garlic. Spread the sausage meat over the pastry.
2. Fold both long sides into the centre, brush with water and again fold in half lengthways. Cut into 1cm (½ inch) slices and place well apart on a lined baking sheet. Sprinkle with the poppy seeds.
3. Cook on the second set of runners down in the main oven 220ºC (425ºF), Gas Mark 7, for about 15 minutes, turn once during cooking.
