We were thrilled to host The Future Kitchen event at Halcyon on London’s Wigmore Street on 16th October. At the beautiful venue, guests enjoyed a fascinating and insightful talk from renowned futurist and author William Higham, founder of Next Big Thing Consulting. Exploring the lifestyles, values, and technologies shaping how we live, cook, and connect, William offered a glimpse into what’s changing, what’s enduring, and what will define the kitchens of tomorrow.
The guest list brought together leading journalists, kitchen designers, architects, and retail partners — all eager to explore what the future holds for this most essential room in the home.
With William’s help we looked at the trends informing the future kitchen to understand how our brands continue to shape the kitchens of tomorrow.
ENJOYING AN EASY LIFE
We’ll be increasingly willing to invest in products that enhance comfort, convenience and, importantly, calm. Seamless living is key here and that's why we will, ironically, be seeing much more of the invisible kitchen!
Technology will be multi-functional and unobtrusive. There to make life easier, rather than just for the sake of it. Kitchens will be flexible, blended and effortlessly adaptable to the household's rhythm.
The 'tech-quiet kitchen' is on the rise and innovations such as the Novy Undercover induction hob will set new standards. This is a sanctuary of ease and serenity. Luxury lies not in what you see, but in what you don't. Think whisper-quiet extraction, gesture-controlled lighting and non-dominant screens. These kitchens offer escape from an ever-noisier world.
