If you are not going to use the AGA cooker for several days or during a holiday period.
If the AGA is on 'low' mode that is between normal settings, you can do one of two things. Press the thermometer button on the handset to bring up the boost function. This will override the current AIMS program and bring the cooker up to normal temperature. To remove the 'boost' function simply press the thermometer button again. Alternatively you can turn the control on the base unit to 'Manual' - but remember to turn it back to the AIMS program afterwards.
Be aware that the AGA may take a number of hours to reach normal temperature depending upon the state of the program.
I have a large dinner party on the weekend and need to complete a lot of cooking, is it ok to use the AIMS program?
The AIMS program is intended to save energy when the appliance is not in use and the principle of cooking on an AGA is based on the thermal mass of stored heat. If you are cooking a large meal it's advisable to change over to 'manual' the day before this large cook commences to ensure that there is sufficient thermal mass and no drop off in cooking performance.
